About two years ago PIH officials looked at Oregon Tech's successful use of geothermal space heating, their own heating bills (last year $50,283.00) and the projected cost and availability of natural gas, and decided to go geothermal. A 1,583 ft well was drilled at a cost of $32,915.00. The well produced 500 gal/min. of 191°F water with 15 ft drawdown. Static water level is 332 ft and the pump is presently being set in at 550 ft. It is estimated the well can produce about twice the amount of energy required for existing and proposed construction
