A history of geothermal and geological activity in the Larderello and Monte Amiata areas with current research and future plans for geothermoelectric development. The generation of electric power with endogenous fluids was first obtained in 1904, fostered by Prince Piero Ginori Conti. The year 1913 witnessed the coming into operation of the first 250 kW power plant which marked the start of the new industrial activity
