Idaho has benefited from its rich geothermal resources for centuries. Native Americans, settlers, miners, and trappers soaked in the many hot springs. In 1892, the Boise Warm Springs Water District became the first site in the country to use geothermal water for heat. Boise is the only State Capitol heated by geothermal energy
