Klamath Falls, Oregon, is located in a Known Geothermal Resource Area which has been used by residents, principally to obtain hot water for space heating, at least since the turn of the century. Approximately 400 shallow-depth wells ranging from 27 to 580 m in depth are used to heat approximately 500 structures. This utilization includes the heating of residences, schools, businesses (including a creamery for milk pasteurization), the heating of swimming pools, and the melting of snow from pavements
