On May 8, 1982 the first full size grid-connected photovo1taic (PV) house in California was inaugurated in San Diego. The project was sponsored by a unique combination of state and local government agencies, a university and a major private residential developer. The purpose of the project was to design, install, and monitor a grid-connected PV system in the San Diego Region on a residential developers model home in order to gain the necessary technical, legal and governmental information that will be required before a large scale penetration of the residential PV market can take place
