An overview of geothermal energy in San Diego in presented. The San Diego geologic setting consists of three geomorphic provinces: a coastal plain consisting of essentially flat-lying Cenozoic sediments, a thin strip of metavolcanic Mesozonic rocks to the east of the Coastal Plain, and the Southern California batholithic granitics east of the metavolcanics. There are 18 warm water wells in the San Diego area. Temperature gradients range from 4 to 27F/100 ft. The dissolved solids of the wells varied from 600 ppm to over 3300 ppm, quite high by any standards other than those of the Niland and Brawley fields. The geochemical indicators, flow rates, and potential utilization are described
