Behavior Technicians typically have demanding and challenging work tasks. They receive training associated with how to perform their job duties but seldom receive training to help them learn how to react and respond to challenging private events that are associated with their job duties. Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) is a training package that was designed to help individuals with their psychological flexibility. While there has been research on the beneficial effects of ACT in various settings and populations, there has been limited research to show if ACT could be used with Behavior Technicians working at Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) organizations. The current study examined the effects of an ACT workbook training on Behavior Technicians behavior while working with their clients. The goal was to see the participants' productivity and efficiency increase as their skills for psychological flexibility increased. The results varied but did show an overall small increase in productivity for all participants. The social validity data suggest that the training was beneficial and enjoyable for the participants. ACT shows promise in improving job effectiveness and enjoyment for Behavior Technicians.
