The purpose of this phase of the Hawaii Deep Water Electrical Transmission Demonstration Project is to characterize the ocean floor in the deep water portion of the Alenuihaha Channel between the islands of Hawaii and Maui, the area that is proposed for deployment of a test electrical transmission cable. Information needed for design and deployment of the cable was compiled from presently existing data banks as well as during surveys using the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics research vessel KANA KEOKI. The principal data banks that provided data were those of the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and the National Ocean Survey of the National Oceanography and Atmospheric Administration
