This paper presents an introduction to the overall design and operating characteristics of US geothermal district heating systems. Geothermal resources and district system components including production facilities, central plants, distribution, customer connections, metering, and disposal are covered. The current extent and prospects for future development of geothermal district heating systems are discussed
