The City of Susanville is located in northeastern California in Lasen County. It overlies the Susanville Geothermal Anomaly, a low to moderate temperature (180F +/-) resource that is located approximately 100 to 500 feet below land surface. A total of three direct use heating systems operate within the city. These are the City of Susanville district space heating system, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS Church), and Tsuji Nurseries. The City system is by far the largest, providing heat to 77 users and facilities, with the potential to provide heat to an additional 75 users, including a proposed industrial park. Current production is approximately 500 gallons per minute from two production wells, the Naef Well and Susan-1, with a capacity approaching 900 gpm. The other two systems are used to heat church facilities and a commercial greenhouse operation, respectively
