The ground-source heat pump industry has historically failed to take full advantage of the public information sources available for site characterization. Virtually every state and province in North America maintains a website (or sites) dedicated to either groundwater or geology or both. These sites vary greatly in terms of the information available, but in many cases, offer a wealth of data useful in the characterization of site geology and hydrology.
