The Puget Sound area reaches from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascades and from Centralia, Wash., to the Canadian border. It is the fastest-growing metropolitan area in the Northwest. The Puget Sound area gets most of its power from east of the Cascades. The map at left shows the location of its major transmission pathways. As a regional wholesaler of power, BPA owns and operates three-fourths of the transmission grid in the Pacific Northwest.
