In this thesis, zero voltage resonant transition of a half-bridge is reviewed with modifications to make the analysis correct in high frequency converters where the resonant transition occupies a large part of a switching cycle. Then this thesis describes a programmatic tuning approach for zero voltage resonant transition (ZVRT) converter to minimize loss under all operating conditions. While this initial approach cannot find the true optimal operating point, its result is better than the single direction approaches found in the literature, and it shows that there is space for efficiency/power density improvement in converters that use a half-bridge as the basic building block.
