The water well or wells serving a Ground-Water Heat Pump (GWHP) system are as pivotal part of the mechanical design as the boiler and cooling tower would be in a water loop system. As such they should warrant the same degree of attention with respect to specification as the more conventional components would receive. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case and the HVAC design engineers lack of familiarity with the topic is sometimes at fault.
