The Mexican territory is characterized by a wealth of geothermal manifestations such as hot springs and fumaroles. In general, much of such areas are related to the presence of very active volcanic structures along the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt created by the interaction of the Cocos and the American Plates. Also, the geothermal activity found in Northwestern Mexico both continental and oceanic, is related to transform faults connecting spreading centers clearly evidenced from the geophysical point of view
