Hot Springs, Arkansas was one of the most popular commercial spa areas in the United States, created to imitate the development of great spas in Europe--so popular that in 1832, it was made into a Federal Reservation and finally by 1921 into a National Park. It is the only national park in the U.S. created just to protect hot springs for spa use.
