Geothermal resources in the USSR are discussed. At present, the perfection of geothermal mapping methods is going on, works on geothermal surveys are being carried on, regularities of regional distribution of thermal waters over the USSR territory are established, and the most promising deposits of thermal waters for practical use are outlined
