Laser rangefinders are a fundamental stepping stone
to LiDAR technology, which is ubiquitous in terrain mapping,
distance measurement, AI vision, and autonomous drones
and vehicles.
The system we chose to implement was a Time-of-
Flight rangefinder, where the time it takes from the output of
a laser pulse to the detection of that pulse is measured, and
using the speed of light, the distance is measured
