The goal of this project was to upgrade, implement and optimize the
DocuTAP practice management system and electronic medical record system for Doctors Express new
East Side clinic. The objectives of this project include develop the scope of the project, analyze current
systems and workflows, draft customizations for DocuTAP, configure menus via web, install DocuTAP at
East Center, implement customized menus and add contracts into DocuTAP and final system check. The
project team observed six selected workflows (patient registration ,24-hour follow-up, triage, imaging
order, respirator physical, travel medicine) and interviewed key personnel to gather data which was
transformed into current workflow diagrams. All six workflows were analyzed and new, reengineered
processes were identified for patient registration, 24-hour follow-up, and imaging order. The analysis
consisted of constructing swim lane charts, use cases, use case diagrams, and activity diagrams for each
