Among the many necessary considerations undertaken during the transition from two campuses into one single campus, the overall takeholder transportation logistics becomes one of the most important.
Transportation logistics remain at the forefront of considerations due to the fact that without multiple transportation options, every stakeholder would be allowed any one or more possible transportation options. Accommodations may be determined by ones living arrangements, place of employment, and/or overall demographics. Considerations held within this document also address new and continuing working relationships between stakeholders outside of Oregon Tech including Tri-Met, Metro, Smart, Wes, and Zimride. Multiple options outlined in the document will also include the inevitable cultural change regarding the concept of rideshare and/or web-based rideshare links.
Considering the overall increasing cost, and finite amount of energy resources, Oregon Tech stakeholders will require alternative options to the single vehicle transportation mode of travel.
Through the help of organizations such as Metro and Smart, data has been gathered via surveys and database applications in order to provide a clearer portrait of the necessary stakeholder transportation requirements. The implementation of any one or more of the recommendations held within this document will provide positive results regarding Oregon Tech’s continuation as an upper education leader. What this document sets forth to outline is the varying forms of alternative forms of transportation. These alternative forms of transportation should be designed in order to fit every student, faculty, and staff under consideration. Each one of the three groups should be considered important contributors to the overall whole that is the Oregon Institute of Technology.
