This project is the proof of concept of the design, development, and implementation of a Smart Luggage Tag. The problem of mishandled baggage has existed since the beginning of commercial air travel, and it continues to be a growing concern. A Smart Luggage Tag or SLT capable of transmitting the location of the luggage in real time, would allow for the quick locating and recovery of mishandled luggage.
The system constantly monitors its location via a GPS module. A cellular telephone is used to demand and receive the GPS coordinates utilizing SMS messaging. A luggage alarm system can be activated and deactivated using SMS messaging.
