The primary objective of this project is to provide an optimal set of cost saving, energy efficient design strategies to the homeowners for a planned retrofit. To achieve this objective, a home energy audit will be conducted in conjunction with the Department of Energy’s (DOEs) home energy score (HES), and the National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NRELs), Building Optimization Software (BEopt). A comparison of the results obtained from each model as well as the interaction effect of the suggested retrofits will be examined as a method of identifying cost optimal designs at different levels of energy saving toward a path of net zero energy.
