This poster is to look into and investigate a new non-invasive way to through the exploration of saliva and developing a method for early cancer detection. By analyzing the microRNA profiles in saliva, we will be able to identify indicators of pre-cancerous conditions that affect skin, lungs, ovaries, and liver. Our hypothesis suggests that altered tumor cells also known as (CTC's), cell-free nucleic acids, and extracellular vesicles from epithelial cells enter our bloodstream and thus appear in saliva. Salivas unique chemical complexity connects to oral issues, blood circulation, and the microbiome. We seek to present a cost-efficient and patient centered solution to help provide insights into accessible methods of cancer detection and help revolutionize practices.
