The poster shows a summary of a literature review, where research suggests that emotional regulation during the early developmental stages of the brain (ages 3-6) can create protective factors that help with resilience against future trauma and stressors for the individual. Some of the literature also suggests that emotional regulation during the brain’s developmental years can help mitigate the effects of emotional illiteracy that can have catastrophic results, such as school shootings. It also has recommendations for future research, as well as potential implementation of emotional regulation programs in elementary schools or throughout K-12.
