This paper describes a hybrid power system that consists of fully renewable generation sources as well as energy storage and backup generation. The system consists of solar PV modules, wind turbine generators, fuel cell system, electrolyzer, and hydrogen storage for backup. A simulation model has been constructed to allow for verification of system performance as well as overall system optimization. A general control plan has been established to manage power flows to and from the load, as well as control hydrogen production and consumption through the electrolyzer/fuel cell system. Results of the simulation and optimization model are presented along with possible areas for system improvements and/or future work.
