This device is a Compact Frequency Radar System. This device, unlike its predecessors, is a novel, handheld, cost-effective radar. The device utilizes the Doppler Shift principle to emit and receive dual radio waves to precisely measure the speed and movement of people, animals, and objects. This device can be compared to echolocation. While this device is small, it is capable of achieving readings in rain, fog, and total darkness. The system’s innovation lies in the sophisticated yet affordable design of its PCB. Two distinct radio waves that are amplified by a meticulously designed circuit get sent forth and received. The device utilizes a Raspberry Pi 5, receiving this data through a 3.5 mm audio jack, analyzes the signals using Python algorithms, transforming raw data into precise measurements. The result is a system with an accuracy of ±0.5 meters per second for speed when within 6 meters and determining the direction of movement for people up to 6 meters away. The system is powered through a USB-C port that can be powered by a computer or wall outlet. While variations of this device can be found in the industrial sector, the concepts are still being built upon to this day. Uses of this are found in modern electric cars for auto-driving capabilities. A specific case would be to incorporate this design into modern automobiles to prevent accidental collisions and other tragedies that are caused by inclement weather. This design is a move to learn and build upon those concepts to someday add to the world of Radio Frequency Technologies.
