FairNES is an emulator for the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) written in C. It is capable of playing the majority of the NES library of games. The NES was originally released in 1986 by Nintendo and original hardware of this console is becoming rarer and more expensive with every passing year. An emulator provides the ability to play original NES games on a modern computer using mouse and keyboard controls. FairNES is built as a headless library written in C and is capable of being run on Windows, Mac and Linux as well as WebAssembly and embedded systems like the Arduino or Teensy 4.1. Anywhere that C can be run, input/output can be handled and an image displayed is a system that the FairNES emulator can run on.
