The JHPS is a low-cost, low-weight Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) disc golf retrieval device engineered to solve the common problem of losing discs in dense brush or obscured terrain. Powered by a 3.7V 40 mAh LiPo battery, the module attaches securely to a user's disc and communicates wirelessly with a custom smartphone application. Through this interface, users can activate an onboard alarm capable of being heard up to 100 feet away. Because minimizing weight and aerodynamic drag were critical design constraints, iterative modeling in Fusion 360 and KiCad was utilized to optimize both the enclosure and the printed circuit board. These engineering efforts successfully reduced the module's total profile by up to 70% compared to the original prototype. The final JHPS unit is now roughly the size of a standard watch face and weighs less than 14 grams.
