At Garmin they manufacture circuit boards with a pick and place assembly line. The assembly line uses carts that have are loaded with reels of components and the cart is place on the line for the machine to run. The current issue is that many of the operators are a bit too tall to comfortably load the carts with the reels. Since the operator will be working on loading a cart for about an hour they will be causing a lot of strain on their backs. The goal is to create a lift that will safely raise the cart so that the operators can load the cart more ergonomically. The problem then is that the carts are extremely heavy and the limited number on lift points on the bottom of the cart. Lastly since it has to be used daily and in a work environment it needs to have multiple safeties and be robust.
