KP-1895 - Klamath Project. Lower Cost Canal Lining. Picture shows asphalt sheets as will be left for backfill. Overlapping edges are not welded whatsoever. Edges are poured with asphalt compound, RC-0 which creates a bond. Asphalt is soluble under this substance and it is believed that when under pressure of the backfill, the overlapping edges will be bonded. This process will continue for the rest of the job. Five-man crew is sufficient using this method; December 12, 1949; Photo by Andrew M. Bergloff
