KP-1651-R2 - Klamath Project. Land Settlement. Gordon Burris, representing the allied veterans' council for the Klamath area, reaches into the pickle jar to draw the first of 44 lucky numbers, from the 2758 well-mixed capsules within, at the public drawing for 44 Coppock Bay farms held in the Klamath Falls Armory on March 15, 1948. Nelson Reed, chairman of the Examining Board which checked the qualifications of 4000 applicants, has just finished cranking the churn around, while E. L. Stephens, Klamath Project Supervisor of Operations & Maintenance, waits with a gavel beside him to crack the capsule open to see what number comes up; March 15, 1948; Photo by B. D. Glaha
